Professional Statement
I am a registered psychologist providing psychological assessment and therapeutic support to adults, adolescents and, where appropriate, children. I work with people from diverse cultural, social, and personal backgrounds and aim to provide a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable and supported.
I believe that establishing a strong therapeutic relationship is an important part of psychological work. I take a collaborative and individualised approach, taking the time to understand each person’s circumstances, experiences, and goals. My aim is to help clients develop a better understanding of themselves, build practical skills and work towards meaningful and sustainable change.
I have experience working with a broad range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma and post-traumatic stress, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, and other complex psychological presentations. I also work with people experiencing forensic, legal, and other significant life challenges.
My therapeutic approach draws on evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed CBT, solution-focused therapy, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and relaxation strategies. I may also use cognitive restructuring, Socratic questioning, breathing techniques, imagery, and somatic approaches where these are appropriate to a person’s needs.
Alongside psychological therapy, I provide a range of psychological assessments, including mental health, cognitive, adaptive functioning, dementia, and risk assessments. These assessments can assist in understanding a person’s psychological and functional needs, informing treatment planning, and providing recommendations to support appropriate services and interventions.
I value diversity and recognise that every person brings their own culture, identity, values, and life experiences to therapy. I strive to provide an inclusive and respectful service in which clients feel listened to, understood and treated with dignity.
Whether you are seeking support with a particular psychological concern, looking for greater insight into your experiences, or require a psychological assessment, I aim to provide thoughtful, compassionate, and evidence-informed care tailored to your individual needs.
